Agenda: Kristin Johnson got the group started with the judging for Special Ed driver and Assistant. Most of the time was spent on judging. Congrats to the winners!

- Kelly Wosika handed out form from MDE #02457-01 regarding “Determining Resident District”. This is a form to help to determine resident district is you are unable to determine. Once the form is completed you email the form to MDE. There are 4 staff people at MDE that will review and make determination that the resident district is. See attached copy.
- Kala handed out survey she received at the National conference regarding students in wheelchairs. –see attached
- Kala handed out flyer for the 2012 National Transporting Students with Disabilities and Preschoolers. The conference will be in Orlando. Check with your Director of Special needs about staff development funds to attend this conference. The cost with airfare, hotel and meals would be in the $2,000.00 range, based on attending in Orlando in 2010.-See attached flyer
- Tom and Carolyn both use a “No one Home” form. Click here for example from St Paul Minneapolis
- Unit VI Special Needs has been completed and sent to Paul Davis.
- Train the Trainer will have one day dedicated to Special Needs training. Sessions include;
CSRS mini session, WC tie down certification, proper seating for evacuation, sensory
Training and Head Start regulations.
- Topics discussed:
Who is installing your child safety seats in your buses?
Are your drivers and Ea’s getting CSRS training and who is training them?
Are they aware of the correct installation?
Who is choosing the seat?
Are they aware of proper selection?
Is WC system included on pre-trip?
Answers very - mechanic and drivers install seats. Some do training, some do not. They are not sure if they are installed correctly or what type of training has been done.
